Chevy Equinox Sport to debut at NAIAS


Chevrolet is set to show off the new Equinox Sport at the North American International Auto Show in January, adding a 3.6-liter 263-hp V6 and a performance exhaust system for a whopping 42-percent power jump over the previous range topping LT version. Fans will be happy to know that the Sport also gets a new six-speed automatic with Tap Shift, as well as a ride height that is lower, and a suspension tuning stiffened for increase handling responsiveness.

The new vehicle will also boast of styling features that include exclusive body-colored front and rear fascias and 18-inch wheels. For a sleeker look on the Sport, Chevy has also chopped off the roof rails and rack.

Equinox Sport goes on sale in the third-quarter of 2007 as a 2008 model. Front- and all-wheel drive will be offered.
