In the recent crash tests conducted by EuroNCAP, the Toyota Auris hatchback earned a five-star crash safety rating in the side impact and pole impact test. The Auris also got a 5-star rating for adult occupant protection as well as 4-star performance for child occupant protection. Thanks to its standard driver’s knee airbag and standard ISOFIX anchorage points on the outer rear seats for child safety.

Chevrolet is set to show off the new Equinox Sport at the North American International Auto Show in January, adding a 3.6-liter 263-hp V6 and a performance exhaust system for a whopping 42-percent power jump over the previous range topping LT version. Fans will be happy to know that the Sport also gets a new six-speed automatic with Tap Shift, as well as a ride height that is lower, and a suspension tuning stiffened for increase handling responsiveness.
The new vehicle will also boast of styling features that include exclusive body-colored front and rear fascias and 18-inch wheels. For a sleeker look on the Sport, Chevy has also chopped off the roof rails and rack.
Equinox Sport goes on sale in the third-quarter of 2007 as a 2008 model. Front- and all-wheel drive will be offered.

The German automotive magazine Auto Bild and Continental has recently sponsored an event that aims to determine the most fastest tuned car. The event took place in a race track located at the Italian city of Nardo.
The group of contenders is made up of different auto tuners around the world including Sportec, Brabus, 9ff, TechArt, Hohenester and others. The 9ff’s Porsche 997 Cabrio bags the title of the world’s fastest tuned car when it accelerated with a top speed of 380.5 km/h (236.43 mph), thanks to 9ff’s 780-horsepower engine. The 9ffs Porsche 997 Cabrio also sets up a world record for the fastest convertible.
Head of 9ff, Jan Fatthauer commented:
"We wanted to do justice to our reputation as tuners who resist physics; an aim we have accomplished. But, that was clear from the start.”

Nissan is reportedly considering building an inexpensive sports car based on the Foria concept car shown in 2005. If built, it would essentially be a spiritual successor to the much-missed 200SX, according to Autocar. The rear-wheel-drive car would be positioned below the 350Z, according to the report.
Another possibility inspired by another concept "the Urge concept" is also reportedly under consideration at Nissan: a mid-engined car in the same price range, media reports say. Currently, the Foria-based project seems most likely, with Nissan again showing the car to media at its global design studio in Atsugi this week.

Chrysler Group's Jeep brand division has released the pricing specs and details of the all-new 2007 Jeep Patriot compact SUV. The vehicle comes in two model trims - the Patriot Sport and Patriot Limited models. Both models comes with standard safety components including Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Anti-lock Brakes (ABS) with rough-road detection, Brake Traction Control and Electronic Roll Mitigation.
The 2007 Jeep Patriot also comes with standard front-wheel-drive system and optional Freedom Drive I and the Freedom Drive II Off-road Package.
Features of the new Jeep Patriot Sport include standard body-color grille and fascias, accent-color body side molding, black door handles, black side roof rails, 16-inch styled steel wheels and all-season tires. It comes with 2.4-liter World Engine that produces 172-horsepower, mated to a five-speed manual transmission. MSRP for Patriot Sport is at $14,985.
Meanwhile, the Jeep Patriot Limited model is equipped with exclusive interior and exterior features including premium leather-trimmed bucket seats, heated front seats, fog lamps, 17-inch aluminum wheels and all-season touring tires. It is also powered by the 2.4-liter World Engine with 172-horsepower.
The 2007 Jeep Patriot will roll out in U.S. dealerships in the fourth quarter of 2006 and in the first half of 2007 in global markets.
