Two new Porsche sports cars will be faster and more agile in roaming the streets. This is because the 2007 Porsche Boxster and Boxster S are given new engines featuring the Porsche VarioCam Plus.
The new engines will provide the cars a much needed increase in power and torque along also with the fuel efficiency. There is an additional 5 horsepower output from the 2.7-liter Boxster engine and its torque increased from 199 to 201 lb.-ft. As with the Boxster S’s engine, it has been upgraded from 3.2 to 3.4 liters developing a 295 horsepower at 6250 rpm, while its torque has also been increased significantly from 15 to 251 lb.-ft.
As an addition for these two mid-engined drop-top roadsters, the optional Tiptronic(R) S automatic transmission is updated featuring improved electronics and hydraulics as well as variable shift programs for better responsiveness. Their sporting capabilities have been improved as well due to another optional feature that is the Sport Chrono package.
Aside from the engine upgrades, Porsche’s Tire Monitoring System that is standard to both models also offers extra safety with its warning function and helps in achieving fuel economy as it also monitors gradual loss of tire pressure. Also, to add to their sleek and sporty appeal, the 19-inch, forged alloy, two-tone wheels has been available for the first time for these two Boxsters.
For those North American consumers that are interested and considering to own one of these roadsters, you better make up your mind now. There’s just barely a month to wait or save money for it as it will be available this coming August. Price is $45,600 for the Porsche Boxster and $55,500 for the more powerful Boxster S.
