Honda Motor Company announced that they are recalling a total of 209,898 models of Mobilio and Mobilio Spike passenger wagons in Japan to repair defective electrical systems on some of its components. Honda said the recall is for Mobilio and Mobilio Spike models produced between November 2001 and May 2005.
The company will make the recall because the vehicle’s brake lights and gears could fail due to the defective electric wiring system. Honda and the Japanese Transport Ministry said the defects could cause abrasion on the surface of the electrical terminals and in worst cases, may not turn on the brake lights.

Tesla Motors, one of the manufacturers of electric cars is planning to build a four-seater electric sedan, a follow up model for the Roadster coupe. The new electric sedan is set to compete with the current benchmark in luxury sedan segment, the BMW 5-Series. Company official said the car will have the electric motor and battery up on its front that will send power through its rear wheels. Unlike the Tesla Roadster’s body structure that is made of aluminum, the new Tesla sedan will be built on lightweight steel.
Tesla will offer the electric car with two powertrain versions – one produces an output of 185kW, the same as the Roadster and can travel up to 200 miles. The other is a more powerful electric battery with a 300-mile range. Tesla will produce 10,000 up to 20,000 units of this car per year, and will roll out in global market. Along with the new electric sedan, Tesla also plans to build a new version of the Roadster some time in 2010.

The Leftlane News, citing a report from U.K.’s AutoExpress reports that BMW is considering offering a rugged crossover version of the forthcoming MINI Clubman five-door wagon. The all-wheel-drive MINI will reportedly likely hit showrooms for the 2010 model year, if production is approved.
According to the U.K. magazine, there is a strong business case for the compact SUV, especially considering the demand for such vehicles here in North America. The 4×4 MINI might reportedly look something like the off-roader built by Italy's Castagna (pictured).

Nissan recently introduced the new-generation redesigned Skyline midsize car in Japan with an all-new exterior and interior styling. Nissan said the new Skyline was developed under the concept, "attraction, sophistication and high-performance driving."
The all-new Nissan Skyline now comes with new exterior features including longer nose, new front-grille, headlamps, integrated spoiler, L-shaped tail lamps, and double exhaust pipes. An additional front bumper and body-side sill spoiler is included in sport models. On the interior, the Nissan gave the Skyline Japanese design cues like the aluminum trim finish inspired by the texture of washi, a traditional Japanese rice paper.
Nissan offers two engine types for the new Skyline - VQ35HR and VQ25HR V6 engines. The 3.5-liter version delivers 315 horsepower and 264 pound-feet of torque, while the 2.5-liter version generates 225 horsepower and produces 193 pound-feet of torque. The engine is mated to five-speed automatic transmission with adaptive shift control and synchro-rev control system. The Nissan Skyline is a certified SU-LEV (super low emission vehicle) that meets the Japanese emission regulations.

According to a recent blog posted by GM Vice Chairman Bob Lutz, General Motors’ Saturn brand division will launch the all-new Vue crossover vehicle in the upcoming 2006 Greater Los Angeles Auto Show. The new Saturn Vue is based the earlier concept vehicle called the PreVue that was unveiled at the New York Show last April. Bob Lutz also said the collaboration of GM’s Saturn and Opel brands will have a cost-effective strong and broad product lineups. General Motors is reportedly planning to offer a new remote control LCD key fob in April 2007 that will provide information on tire pressure, fuel level, and odometer reading. The system will also allow owners to pre-set the radio station and confirm the doors are locked.
USA Today reports that the device will cost $150 for buyers of various full-size GM SUVs, including the Cadillac Escalade. "One of the overarching themes people told us they wanted was security and safety," GM spokesman Tom Henderson says. The Detroit News reports that Chrysler is offering a novel deal to buyers of its redesigned Chrysler Sebring: the company will give $1,000 in cash to any shopper who trades in a Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, Nissan Altima or Ford Fusion for a 2007 Sebring.
The offer is available through Nov. 30 to customers who are currently leasing the rival sedans, the News said, citing several Chrysler dealers.
Chrysler has also extended its five-year, zero-percent financing offers until the end of the month for 2006 cars and trucks and is increasing rebates as much as $1,000 on most 2006 vehicles.
Chrysler is also offering rebates of up to $4,000 on certain 2007 models, including the Chrysler 300C sedan, the Dodge Magnum wagon, Charger sedan, minivans and the Dodge Ram pickup.

The Detroit News, citing color specialists at PPG Industries Inc., reports that silver is still the most popular color, as it has been for six consecutive years.
According to PPG, silver will remain the No. 1 choice for consumers in the coming years, but a number of more subtle color trends could have a major impact on the auto industry in the coming years.
"We're going to see a lot more browns and graphite colors, as well as blues emerging in the future," said Jane Harrington, manager of color styling at PPG.
